Our Methodology: The Science Behind the Perfect Itinerary
A truly exceptional travel experience is not an accident. It is the result of a deliberate, rigorous, and passion-fueled process of evaluation and curation. At 7 Day Bali Itinerary, our recommendations are the foundation of our promise to you. This page details the proprietary methodology we use to select the partners and experiences that constitute our acclaimed 7 Day Bali Itinerary. Our process is designed to ensure that every element of your journey meets our uncompromising standards for quality, safety, authenticity, and sustainability.
The 7D-B.I. Scoring Rubric: A 360-Degree Evaluation
We have developed a comprehensive scoring system, the 7D-B.I. Rubric, to evaluate every potential partner. Each partner is assessed across multiple criteria and must achieve a minimum score of 85/100 to be considered for inclusion in our preferred network. The evaluation is conducted in person by our specialist team.
1. Accommodation (Villas, Resorts, Boutique Hotels) – Total Score: 100
- Service Excellence (30 pts): Assessed by staff-to-guest ratio, training programs, responsiveness, and personalization. We conduct unannounced spot-checks and interviews.
- Quality of Hard Product (25 pts): Cleanliness, maintenance, quality of materials, amenities, and overall design aesthetic.
- Safety & Security (20 pts): On-site security presence, emergency protocols, fire safety compliance, and pool safety measures.
- Sustainability Practices (15 pts): Tangible efforts in waste management (especially single-use plastics), water conservation, energy efficiency, and sourcing from local suppliers.
- Authenticity & ‘Sense of Place’ (10 pts): How well the property reflects Balinese culture and its unique location, from architecture to guest experiences.
2. Experiences & Guides – Total Score: 100
- Guide Expertise & Certification (35 pts): Official HPI (Himpunan Pramuwisata Indonesia) license is mandatory. We further assess depth of knowledge, storytelling ability, and English proficiency.
- Safety Record & Protocols (30 pts): Impeccable safety record, documented emergency action plans, quality and maintenance of equipment (e.g., for rafting, cycling).
- Exclusivity & Uniqueness (20 pts): The ability to offer private access, unique perspectives, or experiences away from the crowds. We avoid mass-market, generic tours.
- Community & Environmental Impact (15 pts): Must be a net positive. We prioritize operators who employ locally, support community projects, and adhere to ‘Leave No Trace’ principles.
3. Transportation (Private Vehicles & Marine Charters) – Total Score: 100
- Vehicle/Vessel Condition & Maintenance (35 pts): Vehicles must be under 5 years old. We review maintenance logs. Boats must have current BKI (Biro Klasifikasi Indonesia) certification and SOLAS-compliant safety gear.
- Driver/Captain Professionalism & Training (30 pts): Defensive driving training, route knowledge, first aid certification, and professional conduct. Captains must have valid marine licenses.
- Safety Features (20 pts): Mandatory seatbelts, GPS tracking in all vehicles, functioning life rafts and communication systems on all boats.
- Compliance & Insurance (15 pts): Valid SIUP-PARIWISATA license, full passenger liability insurance, and proof of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan for all crew.
The Annual Partner Audit & Continuous Improvement Cycle
Inclusion in our network is not a one-time event. It is an ongoing commitment to excellence. Our methodology includes a continuous cycle of review:
- Initial Vetting: A potential partner is identified and undergoes the full 7D-B.I. Scoring Rubric evaluation during an in-person site visit.
- Probationary Inclusion: If the partner meets our minimum score, they are added to our network on a probationary basis and used for a limited number of trips.
- Guest Feedback Loop: We actively solicit detailed, confidential feedback from every client about every element of their trip. This data is crucial and directly impacts a partner’s standing.
- Annual In-Person Audit: Every partner in our network is re-evaluated in person by our team annually to ensure standards are being maintained or improved. Partners who fail to maintain the minimum score are placed on a performance improvement plan or removed from our network.
This rigorous, data-driven methodology is our promise to you. It’s how we ensure that the recommendations on our site and the components of your itinerary are not just good, but the absolute best that Bali and Indonesia have to offer. Our commitment to this process is central to our editorial integrity.
